    Description

    Opto Metric Comparator Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Microscope made in West Germany and has an IBM development lab sticker on unit. Unit is solid and weighs approximately 24lbs. All of the knurled handles move smoothly and micro adjust. There is a quick release that moves the cross slide arm in a quick telescoping fashion. The optics is fuzzy and unclear with the tail piece being dirty and the eyepiece as well, but these can be cleaned. In between these 2 pieces is the problem as it is moldy when light is applied. I did not want to venture further for fear of damaging any internal unit. All of the pieces are fine thread and move freely. The base has 3/8” “T” slots similar to machinist lathe beds that run parallel to each other. I’m sure the base will need some fasteners/hold downs that are not present for securing the viewed item. I believe this to be a comparator or measuring optics because of the precise movement of the knurled handles. It will need optics work which I’m not an expert on. The base is 9 3/4” wide and 8 1/2” deep. Please see pictures for complete detail of overall quality and various features.
